This past weekend, my wife and I did another MS Bike tour, this one 200 miles over 2 windy days. It was a great opportunity to spend some quality time together, as well as a bit of a physical challenge. It was a good couple of days, both physically and spiritually, and in some ways, the lessons crossed in both directions.
We tend to think of the physical and the spiritual as two things, thanks to the legacy of Greek philosophers like Plato. I am seeing this as less and less the case. As human beings, we are both physical and spiritual entities, and it seems foolish to subdivide our nature.
Anyway, this is a fistful of observations, lessons and humor from the weekend.
An occasional, semi-random commentary on life, cycling, faith, computers, smart grid, philosophy, humor, and some stuff that's hard to classify. Be aware that these comments are my own, and may not reflect the position of my Congregation, my work, or anyone else.

In Row 19...
An odd venue for dance, and odd partners as well.
Sans barre or mirror, stage or studio.
Unplanned and random.
Masked and tentative, they began.
The dance was common and ordinary, something any child can do.
Something to pass the time.
But as they shared space and movement,
time and rhythm,
light and shadow,
thought and word,
they each rediscovered something new.
Soon, no longer needed, the masks were cast aside.
Each now continues the dance, in different venues,
with different partners,
always the same,
but somehow different,
since the dance in Row 19.
The masks?
They're still there,
on that unusual stage.
Waiting for the next partners
who dare to dance.
Sans barre or mirror, stage or studio.
Unplanned and random.
Masked and tentative, they began.

But as they shared space and movement,
